cols I dreamed about
the

This short but intense adventure cross the mountains from Susa to Cuneo going through France. It was my way of merging together the cols I've been dreaming about riding for a couple of years.
The experience was priceless and the places were magical, here is a little round up of how it went day by day:
DAY 01 //
—susa > finestre + assietta + genevris + capanna mautino > cervières—
km // 85
d+ // 3310m
As the day unfolded, so did a lot of precious and unexpected encounters, with friends, and with new ones.
This last weekend, good and bad included felt like one of those that are “meant to be”.
Yes, it was a hard and intense day out on the bike, but I wouldn’t change a thing about it (except some infamous sections komoot dropped me in & the sheppard dogs hahahah)
My eyes were fully filled with amazing panoramas and incredible gravel paths. This cols are “classics” in Piedmont, and wow, now I definitely know why. The sunny day helped and the temperature was perfect once up the Colle delle Finestre and on.

DAY 02
—cervières > col d'Izoard + col agnel > cuneo—
km // 132
d+ // 2300m
As day 01 was for encounters, day 02 was for challenges and thoughts.
Riding solo is definitely a pleasure and can teach you infinite things about yourself.
You're kinda forced to be open and willing to accept and take over whatever it happens.
And sometimes that's just amazing, others not that much.
Ticking cols off the list is always soothing but its really way more fun and challenging what happens in the way...it was sunny, full of cyclists and motorbikes.
My eyes were amazed and my body too.
As a friend says, in this era of screens and a thousand hours of sitting, being tired this way is just a luxury.

FAQ
Best time to do it? - definitely summer
Do I really need a gravel/mtb? - yes, the route is 95% off-road
Is it doable in more/less days instead of 2? - yes, it's all on how you want to ride it.
Are there hike-a-bike sections? - yes, I think I’ll dedicate some time to find a better way to get from Capanna Mautino to Cervières, apart from that section it is very much ridable.
